DriveCam Inc. Vice President of Safety Services Presents at OSP Expo 2007
Del Lisk, vice president of safety services at DriveCam Inc., presented "Fleet Safety: Improving Workforce Driver Behavior," at the OSP Expo on August 30, 2007, in San Jose, Calif. OSP Expo, sponsored by OSP (Outside Plant) Magazine, is an annual educational conference focused on revealing solutions and products for broadband network deployment as a way to teach professionals in the ILEC, CLEC and IOC communities about industry trends and technologies of tomorrow.
During his seminar, Lisk highlighted the impact behavior-based risk management solutions can have on the telecommunications industry as a way to improve safety across fleets. He cited that the National Safety Council reports motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of accidental death and injury both on and off the job, showcasing the need for service technicians and engineers to make safety a priority when behind the wheel. Lisk commented that implementing a generic driver risk training program is not enough to maintain continued driver safety, noting that behavior-based Driver Risk Management solutions more effectively help identify risky driving behavior to prevent "accidents waiting to happen" and to create long-lasting, measurable driver improvement. He showed actual video clips demonstrating common risky driving behaviors to teach attendees how to recognize these behaviors and presented the United States Marine Corps Western Division and Time Warner Cable as case study examples of two organizations seeing reductions in personal injury, vehicle damages and claims costs as a result of implementing a Driver Risk Management solution.
DriveCam reduces risk by predicting and preventing risky driving behavior and has helped commercial and government fleets reduce vehicle damages, workers' compensation and personal injury costs by 30 to 90 percent.
