DriveCam for Families is Launched!

The DriveCam Driver Risk Management Program has been available for many years to companies who operate commercial fleets. However, knowing that newly licensed teen drivers are nine times more likely to crash than mature adults, many people have asked when DriveCam would become available for parents of teens.

Based on this interest, DriveCam and American Family Insurance (AmFam) introduced the Teen Safe Driver Program last year. The results were amazing. Thousands of families signed up and those surveyed reported very high satisfaction rates. The best part is the results. The Teen Safe Driver Program is the first new program to successfully reduce the crash rate of participating teen drivers.

But, what about the parents of teenagers in those 18 states who don't have AmFam and everyone else in the other 32 states?

Due to AmFam's success and parents' increased interest, we're thrilled to make DriveCam for Families available for direct purchase by consumers in all U.S. states (except Alaska). Now everyone can ensure their family's safe driving and reduce their insurance claims. To hear parents and teens currently enrolled in the program, go to http://www.drivecam.com/teen-driving/safety-programs.html.

You'll find that the results have been impressive. Compared with published data on teen crash rates, teens protected by the DriveCam program experience 1/3 as many at-fault crashes as those teens not in the program. Even more impressive is the reduction in injury rate since DriveCam enables parents to enforce seat belt rules, as well as safer driving.

Once enrolled in the program, you'll receive regular, objective, third-party driving report cards from DriveCam showing how your teen's risk score compares with their peers and declines over time. Watching videos with your teens enables fact-based discussions that strengthen relationships and usually enables teens to earn accelerated driving privileges by demonstrating safe habits.

For the low cost of only $75/month (payable in one annual fee), participants receive a vehicle event recorder, professional installation at Best Buy and the first year of service. Continued service after the first year is available for only $30/month.

Compared to the cost of a cell phone, DriveCam delivers safer driving and a huge return on your investment. It's a known fact that, without DriveCam, 20 percent of teenagers will crash in their first year, and the family pays deductibles and other costs that are usually greater than $1000. Families are often out of pocket even more to avoid reporting crashes that can double the average premium of $1400/year.

DriveCam is working with other insurance companies who are interested in enjoying the claims savings and positive publicity that AmFam has enjoyed; new programs may be announced later this year. In the meantime, families who want to protect their children and pocket books can sign up today at http://www.drivecam.com/teen-driving/faq.html. Please help us save lives by telling your friends with new teen drivers about DriveCam for Families!
