1998

  • Road rage incident sparks idea for a vehicle video event recorder and a Driver Risk Management program

2002

  • Four patents granted with an additional 10 now pending

2003

  • Del Lisk, former Smith System Driver Improvement president, joined DriveCam as vice president, fleet safety services

2004

  • DriveCam surpasses 10,000 units installed
  • Bruce Moeller joins DriveCam as president and CEO to focus the DriveCam Driver Risk Management program on behavior modification

2005

  • DriveCam Academy introduced
  • DriveCam first appears on Inc. Magazine's list of 500 fastest growing private companies
  • DriveCam secures $18 million in Series B financing
  • DriveCam launches DriveCam Managed Services program to include dedicated client team; program management and monitoring; data analysis and risky driver event review; hosting, security and system maintenance; software and reporting; consolidated data repository; safety services and training; and implementation and installation services
  • Safety Enhancement Module introduced for passenger carrying vehicles

2006

  • DriveCam's second appearance on Inc. Magazine's list of 500 fastest growing private companies
  • Wi-Fi wireless download capability introduced

2007

  • DriveCam introduces first cellular download, web-based platform for Driver Risk Management
  • DriveCam's third appearance on Inc. Magazine's list of 500 fastest growing private companies
  • Teen Safe Driver Program launched with American Family Insurance

2008

  • American Family insurance expands Teen Safe Driver Program to entire 18-state coverage area
  • DriveCam installed in over 86,000 vehicles across 1500 fleets
  • DriveCam database repository surpasses five million events
