- Q: What is DriveCam?
- A: DriveCam is a global Driver Risk Management company. We reduce claims costs and saves lives by improving the way people drive.
- Q: What market does DriveCam serve?
- A: Companies that operate fleets have little visibility into, or influence on, their drivers’ behavior on the road. Yet, driver behavior directly impacts a fleet’s risk factors, safety record and operating costs. DriveCam dramatically improves a fleet’s bottom line by mitigating risk and reducing the costs associated with unsafe driving behaviors.
- Q: Who are DriveCam’s customers?
- A: DriveCam customers include enterprises with fleets ranging from a few dozen vehicles to tens of thousands of vehicles. DriveCam has deep industry expertise with many types of fleets, in particular:
- Q: What benefit does DriveCam’s behavior-based risk mitigation solution bring to the enterprise?
- A: DriveCam’s behavior-based risk mitigation solution improves driver behavior and saves lives. DriveCam has reduced vehicle damages, workers’ compensation and personal injury costs by more than 50 percent in over 100,000 commercial and government vehicles.
- Q: What benefit does DriveCam’s behavior-based risk mitigation solution bring to drivers of enterprise vehicles?
- A: DriveCam helps drivers become better drivers and reduce their incidents of collisions.
- Q: Explain how DriveCam’s behavior-based risk mitigation solution works.
- A: DriveCam’s behavior-based risk mitigation solution predicts and prevents actual risky driving behaviors likely to result in collisions.
DriveCam’s palm-sized, exception-based video event recorder is mounted on the windshield behind the rearview mirror and captures sights and sounds inside and outside the vehicle. Exceptional forces (e.g. hard braking, swerving, collision, etc.) cause the recorder to save the critical seconds immediately before and after the triggered event. Saved events are analyzed and used in ongoing driver coaching programs to improve behavior and mitigate driver risk.
We provide the resources and support to allow clients to focus on their core business and ensure continuous improvement of fleet safety. DriveCam provides a team of certified experts who serve as an extension of your fleet. - Q: How does DriveCam compare to other Driver Risk Management companies?
- A: In a variety of ways:
- DriveCam focuses on the operator rather than the vehicle
- We are the only company to focus on improving risky driving behavior by predicting and preventing crashes through sight and sound via cellular download
- DriveCam’s team of certified experts analyze event recordings to be used in ongoing driver coaching to improve driving and mitigate risk
- Risk InfoCenter by DriveCam is the largest knowledgebase in the world to provide insight into risky driving based on actual driving behavior. At the core of Risk InfoCenter is the world’s largest repository of risky driving behaviors collected across multiple industries and types of vehicles. These behaviors provide crucial insights into helping fleets and the motoring public prevent collisions.
- We enable enterprises to focus on their core business and ensure continuous improvement in fleet safety, while we manage all aspects of the program for them
- Q: What has been the reaction to the DriveCam Solution among enterprise drivers?
- A: Most professional drivers understand the benefits of DriveCam’s behavior-based risk mitigation solution. They understand that the video event recorder is exception-based, saving only video of events triggered by exceptional forces as opposed to capturing and saving video of irrelevant sights and noises. They want to protect themselves and their reputations and recognize the value of the video event recorder and ongoing driver coaching.
- Q: What is Risk InfoCenter?
- A: Risk InfoCenter by DriveCam is the world’s largest repository of events reflecting actual risky driving behaviors across driver and vehicle types in commercial, consumer and government industry sectors.
- Q: What is RiskPredict?
- A: RiskPredict is an analytical process that eliminates irrelevant data and optimizes the duration and length of captured events. By focusing only on the riskiest driving behaviors, RiskPredict improves the user experience and reduces both time and cost for managing the program.
RiskPredict optimizes how DriveCam prevents risky driving behavior. By eliminating unnecessary (low or zero risk) events and identifying patterns of behavior, it helps enterprises make more accurate decisions about risky driving in their fleet. RiskPredict focuses on the captured events that are the highest predictors of risky driving behavior optimized to highlight the root cause and help forecast future events.
In addition to eliminating unnecessary events, RiskPredict optimizes the duration and length of captured events. Using rigorous statistical analysis and advanced analytical techniques, DriveCam scientists tested more than one million risky driving events to determine the optimum amount of time needed is 12 seconds to consistently identify risky patterns of behavior. - Q: What benefit does DriveCam’s behavior-based risk mitigation solution bring to insurance companies?
- A: DriveCam delivers bottom line impact to insurance companies by enabling insurers to:
- Reduce the frequency and severity of claims
- Process claims from crashes more efficiently and rapidly
- Improve the way people drive
- Improve customer quality and control over decisions about account selection and retention process
- Q: Do you work with consumers? It seems like a natural fit.
- A: DriveCam’s focus currently is commercial enterprises and government agencies.
